Conservative dentistry and prevention General

General

Conservative dentistry is a fundamental branch of dentistry that deals with the treatment of teeth. Here at Dental Studio Flegar we use cutting-edge technology and high quality materials.

Conservative dentistry comprises:

  • Treatment and removal of caries
  • Repair, cleaning, and medication of root canals
  • Removal of calculus and plaque

Caries is an infection caused by the action of bacteria in the oral cavity in combination with food and the genetic predispositions of an individual. Caries is the most widespread tooth disease.

Early caries symptoms are sensitivity to sweet, change in colour, and cavitation.

Dental plaque has a major role in the emergence of caries. Bacteria in dental plaque produce acids that, in combination with carbohydrates, affect the demineralization of tooth enamel. In the case of immature plaque, it is possible to regenerate teeth with the components from saliva, but the appearance of mature plaque results in irreversible demineralisation and the onset of caries.

To prevent caries from occurring, it is essential to maintain good oral hygiene, which includes tooth brushing after each meal, or at least in the morning and evening, and dental flossing.

Proper nutrition also has a significant effect on the health of the entire organism, as well as on the health of the teeth. Foods rich in proteins, minerals, and vitamins should be consumed and foods with high sugar content and that stick to the teeth should be avoided.

In addition to this, it is important to pay regular visits to the dentist at least once a year.
