Oral surgery Maxillary sinus floor lift

Maxillary sinus floor lift

Maxillary sinus floor lift is an oral surgical procedure with a pre-prosthetic surgical purpose, i.e. bone augmentation for placement of dental implants.

Sinus lift can be internal or external, depending on the length of the bone that needs to be inserted so that the implant can be placed. Implants are placed immediately after an internal sinus lift, while there is a minimal 6-month waiting period after an external sinus lift.

Maxillary sinus floor lift is performed under local anaesthesia, which means that the procedure is completely painless.

WHICH MATERIALS ARE USED FOR A SINUS LIFT?

In our office we use state-of-the-art PRGF-Endoret® biotechnology (Plasma Rich in Growth Factors – endogeneus regenerative technology), either individually or combined with alloplastic bone graft materials (xenogenic materials).

Postoperative recovery includes:

  • Taking prescribed antibiotics and analgesics
  • Avoiding chewing in the location of the procedure
  • Placing a cold compress on the cheek in order to prevent or decrease swelling
  • Eating soft foods, ice cream and yogurt
  • Avoiding hot foods and beverages
  • Avoiding alcohol and smoking during the following 12 hours
