Oral surgery Wisdom tooth extraction

Wisdom tooth extraction

Wisdom tooth extraction is the process of removing the molar from it alveolus. The procedure may be standard or complicated in the case of tooth impaction.

It is important to follow specific doctor’s instructions after a wisdom tooth extraction so that your wound heals properly.

Because of bleeding, a normal side effect for tooth extraction, a patient has to hold a sterile dental gauze for 20 minutes. We recommend placing a cold compress on the cheek in order to prevent or decrease swelling, as well as, avoiding consummation of hot foods and drinks and alcohol. It is also necessary to avoid mouth rinsing in the following 24 hours, as well as, touching the wound and smoking in the following 12 hours because smoking irritates the wound and causes bleeding. We recommend consuming yogurt, ice cream, liquids, and soft foods.
